e-Dialogue Special Section
After two weeks and over 10,000 words in responses, from Nov. 17-21 we spend the final week of the e-Dialogue talking about how Canada can mobilize resources for democratic development abroad. "If implemented... a central democracy institute should move funding away from the risk-averse bureaucratic structures of CIDA, and in addition to taking on new activities like political party support, would hopefully provide longer-term, less-encumbered funding to existing organizations that are already doing good work in the field," proposes David Donovan, this week's Presenter.
We appreciate all of your contributions thus far and encourage you to take this final opportunity to have your say. To get involved, please visit our comprehensive landing pages, presented in both English and French. You can also go
straight through to this week's discussion by clicking here.
This week’s topic is
being moderated by Andrew Thompson, senior fellow at the Centre for
Governance Innovation (CIGI). David Donovan (Associate, Centre for the
Study of Democracy) has already responded while Mark Sedra (Senior
Fellow, CIGI), David Mitchell (VP: Advancement, Queens University) and
Roland Rich (Executive Head, UN Democracy Fund) will contribute to the
discussion throughout the week.
This month, GV is partnering with Ottawa's premier parliamentary publications - The Hill-Times and Embassy Magazine - to promote our e-Dialogue online event.
